Please email us if you would like to direct a play, join our distribution email list, or have any questions!

Last year we had two local groups and participants from Baltimore, Washington D.C., and New York make the finals round.  We look forward to a diverse group of performances again!

We would like to thank our local hosts that let us use their stages and equipment, our wonderful volunteers (directors, actors, technicians, and student volunteers), and all the playwrights who have generously contributed their works to our festivals and continue to do so.

Our main production is the Watermelon One-Act Festival (WOAF), a two-day competition of original one-act plays that will be hosted by St. Mary's College of Maryland on June 2-3.

  • We welcome guest Amy Bernstein, our regional Representative from the The Dramatists Guild of America, to our Sunday finals for WOAF 2018!  We encourage everyone to visit The Dramatists Guild's website and learn about this fabulous organization!
  • Visit for a list of tons of contests and other play submission opportunities with deadlines coming up this month.
  • Submissions for WOAF 2019 will be accepted starting in July 2018. Please review our festival rules page in July if interested in submitting original works. With all else being equal, preference will be given to submissions with committed directors and a total run time 10 to 30 minutes.
