2019 WOAF Finalists

Last year we had over five states represented in our festival.  We look forward to a diverse group of performances again!

We would like to thank our local hosts that let us use their stages and equipment, our wonderful volunteers (directors, actors, technicians, and student volunteers), and all the playwrights who have generously contributed their works to our festivals and continue to do so.

Please email us if you would like to direct a play, join our distribution email list, or have any questions!

Our main production is the Watermelon One-Act Festival (WOAF), a two-day competition of original one-act plays that will be hosted by St. Mary's College of Maryland in the first weekend of June.

Watermelon Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to support the theater arts in the local community, promote original works written by both students and adults, and provide a nurturing and educational environment for the development of theatrical and technical skills.

  • A warm thank you to Amy Bernstein, our regional Representative from the Dramatists Guild of America, who will be joining our WOAF 2020 Sunday finals!  We encourage everyone to visit The Dramatists Guild's website and learn about this fabulous organization!
  • Visit PlaySubmissionsHelper.com/blog for a list of tons of contests and other play submission opportunities with deadlines coming up this month.
  • With all else being equal, preference will be given to submissions with committed directors and a total run time 30 minutes or less.
